In this article I will look at what is going on in Contagion, a movie directed by Tom McCarthy. I will look at the storyline and other aspects of the movie to see how much it contributes to the overall theme of this movie.
The story of Contagion revolves around a virus called the "Superbug" which causes a disease which is known as the "Game Theory". The virus attacks people and spreads rapidly. The title of the movie refers to the ability of the virus to cause the human mind to have an effect on the behavior of humans.
The theme of the movie is that of trust being placed in people and with trust, there is a major part played by the mind. This is because trust is the foundation on which trust is built. That is why there is a system of "poker chips" where the value of trust comes from, which you can put into different people, so that they will respect you.
Trust is built based on the basic instincts of humans, which is, they will rely on the people they trust and the people they believe to be trustworthy. In Contagion, this is shown in the war between the warring factions of the virus, including the Albino Virus, the Space-Walker Virus and the Family Virus. All the viruses affect people differently.
Another theme in the movie is that of mind control. People are said to be involved in the mind control game when they try to manipulate their environment for them. For example, the character of David Anderson, who helps Michael Yates, the family lawyer, find information that will help him.
The author of the book, about a virus that was going to change the minds of humans was a victim of the Game Theory, by himself. It was a game he never thought he would win, but was ultimately able to do so. The program was not able to get information for himself.
In a TV show, a character, Stephen Finch, played by the actor Andrew Buchan, runs an advertising agency, which acts as a human mercenary army, in a war between humans and the Space-Walker, which were created by aliens. The various characters also all share the same AI system, which is the reason why they are all so similar in their personalities. This AI system is the root of the conflict between humans and the aliens, by the way.
I found the movie a little cheesy. The characters were very much like humans, but had a difference, but still these are movies about human emotions, which were interesting.
